This was the era where players like George Harrison and Eric Clapton helped put the SG Standard firmly on the map, giving it a sound, style, and attitude that would go on to define generations of guitar music. By this point, the SG had evolved beautifully, with the Maestro Vibrola replacing the earlier side-pull vibrato and a fuller neck profile giving it improved balance, playability, and that unmistakable vintage Gibson feel.

The Gibson Custom Shop 1964 SG Standard Reissue brings that golden-era magic back to life with incredible attention to detail. From the authentic red aniline dye finish and vintage-correct construction methods to the recreated plastics, replica electronics, Maestro Vibrola, and strong neck profile, every part is built to honour the original 1964 design. Finished by the Murphy Lab with Ultra Light Aging, the Cherry Red nitro finish and aged hardware have a subtle, tasteful patina that captures the look, feel, and spirit of a lightly played Golden Era Gibson.
