Description
Explore the iconic era of '64 when legends like George Harrison and Eric Clapton embraced the SG Standard. This pivotal year marked significant enhancements for SGs, with the Maestro Vibrola replacing the clunky side-pull vibrato. Neck profiles expanded, reminiscent of the 1959 Les Pauls, elevating the balance, playability, and aesthetics of the SG.
The Gibson Custom Shop has proudly introduced the 1964 SG Standard Reissue, capturing the essence of this historic year. Boasting Maestro Vibrola and a robust neck profile, it meticulously replicates vintage specifications, including original construction methods, authentic red aniline dye finish, chemically-recreated plastics, replica electronics, and more. The result is an SG Reissue that stands out for its unparalleled appearance, feel, and sound. Expertly crafted with Ultra Light Aging by the Murphy Lab, the finish and hardware exude a tasteful aged patina, simulating decades of light play wear, echoing the character of an original Gibson Golden Era example.
